physical trace. Primarily using my own body as medium, my work is concerned with representations of the female body. ‘Skin’ presents the panic and dread that begins in adolescence around development of markedly female traits and the societal meanings that are attached to them. Embracing connotations of birth and life cycles with particular reference to the cocoon, it looks to disrupt the expected narrative
that surrounds these themes, drawing links to the permanence of the societal issues that accompany female embodiment.
