My photographic practise predominantly examines the history of my motherland, Vietnam, as an Australian Vietnamese in relation with the history of my family, their journey and mine. My work often re ects upon personal memories and experience to investigate broader social, historical and political themes, predominantly those relating
to the history of Vietnam at the close of the 20th century onwards. A continuation of my existing practise, ‘Viet Kieu’ (2017) explores issues of cross-cultural identity and the meaning of cultural values through photography and video.
