Remembering extinct Australian animals.
‘Missing’ gives visibility to extinct Australian animals through pasteups installed in urban locations. The project critiques the curation of our collective memory, looking at what is included, and more importantly excluded. The pasteups act as impermanent, low cost and accessible memorials to a few of the small, inglorious animals that have gone extinct since European invasion and whose story is largely unknown. The works are positioned as alternative stories in a city littered with bronze statues venerating colonial gures, politicians and war, and asks what is worth memorialising, and for who?
