Excipit is based on sonic and visual material captured at the disused Nylex factory and silo complex in Cremorne, Victoria, manipulated and displayed across multiple monitors and headphones. Founded in an interplay between the past and the present, Excipit ampli es poetic resonances of the site and re-presents these as a world absent of referentials in order to render their sensation.
Melbourne-based Robert Sopenlehto is an audio-visual artist working at intersections of installation and performance. Drawing upon studies undertaken during the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology’s Fine Arts program, Robert synthesises classical forms and emerging technology, exploring movement and music as ritual, tension of differences, and the immediacy of experience.
