I was born in Chaoshan, China, but migrated to Melbourne Australia in 2014 and now experience shifting identity between two different cultures. These works are relating to this particular cultural background, and personal experiences. They are based on the memory of having ancestor worship in my hometown during past holidays, and everyday life in Melbourne city. By combining the symbols and Chinese figures that are used in traditional sacrificial activities and the familiar, typical food that people can find easily
in Melbourne, I explore the essential belongingness and identity of Chaoshan diaspora in this western country.
