I am interested in the aesthetics of photojournalism and the documentation of the ‘every day.’ The subject matter of my work
is deeply personal and intimate, this is accentuated through the labour and time put into creating each graphite drawing from the photographs I take. Graphite is a very beautiful medium to work with, it creates a certain sensitivity throughout each piece. Through drawing each seemingly banal scene I am giving them a certain importance, which, if they existed purely as photographs, would be lost.
