Welded steel and pine wood 166.5cm x 127cm x 37cm
Revealed is a sculptural self-portrait that challenges traditional self-
portraiture by shifting the focus from the canvas to the frame. The Ball physicality of cutting and sanding down industrial steel to reveal a
new surface, creates an in-depth investigation into selfhood and the
bodily act of making. The steel is symbolic for inner strength and
endurance, whilst the wooden component represents my vulnerability
and inevitable decay. As the measurements are based on my own
body dimensions, Revealed re ects the notion that knowing my
artwork is indivisible from knowing myself.
